CheckOn — Task Management & Team Collaboration Platform

The project was developed under contract as a task management application, with the goal of going beyond a basic task manager and providing a more complete workspace for remote teams and larger organizations. The platform needed to support task management, team collaboration, communication, file sharing, reliable notifications, and access control while maintaining an architecture suitable for a subscription-based product.

The central challenge was to keep day-to-day task management simple while preserving data consistency and usability during simultaneous multi-user collaboration. Security, role-based access, dependable notifications, and communication tooling also needed to be part of the product core.

A complete work management and team collaboration platform was implemented, combining core task management with real-time communication, operational features, and a structured team workspace. The platform supports task creation and assignment, team management, organized lists and folders, comments and team chat, file sharing, and multiple notification mechanisms. A real-time architecture based on WebSockets and Socket.IO was implemented to provide fast and reliable synchronization across users. Additional capabilities include voice-to-text processing for audio messages in comments and chat, an installable PWA, real push notifications, admin-triggered SMS messaging, and a centralized notification center. A dedicated finance and accounting module was also implemented to track expenses and calculate balances, debts, and receivables between teams. Overall, CheckOn was designed as an extensible platform for remote teams and organizations, with a product structure suitable for a subscription-based business model.
